For Aunty Sharon
To Aunty Sharon, warm and kind,
With happy memories in my mind.
The little moments shine so bright,
Cosy mornings filled with light.
Weekend sleepovers, full of cheer,
We stayed up late with nothing to fear.
Pillows piled, stories told,
Safe and snug from night-time cold.
Saturday breakfasts, such a treat,
Toast and tea made mornings sweet.
Breakfast in bed, no need to race,
Just laughter shared in our favourite place.
The telly on with children’s shows,
Where every story gently flows.
Cartoons, giggles, songs we’d sing,
Simple joys that childhood brings.
Out came Scrabble, tiles in hand,
Building words both clever and grand.
Then Dingbats had us scratching heads,
With puzzled looks and laughter spread.
Nan’s corned beef stew, rich and warm,
A family favourite in every form.
And every loaf would bring the same—
The crusty ends became the game.
We’d fight (with smiles) for every slice,
The golden crust was worth the price.
Though someone always claimed they’d won,
The baguette wars were never done.
Those precious days still softly stay,
Though years have drifted far away.
For love is built in little things,
The joy that simple memory brings.
So here’s to you, dear Aunty Sharon,
For all the love you’ve always shown.
The games, the meals, the smiles so true—
My happiest memories include you.
Back with Nan, where hearts are free,
Rest in peace, as it should be.
Sleep well now, your work is done,
Forever loved, forever one.
